Established in 1987, Al-Noor Society was founded to serve the Ahle-Sunnah wal-Jama'at community in Houston, Texas, offering a place to commemorate Islamic historic events, preserve authentic Islamic traditions, and pass them on to future generations. Al-Noor hosts one of the largest Friday congregations in Texas and enjoys high participation across year-round religious programs.
With IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit status, Al-Noor acquired its central facility at 6443 Prestwood Dr. in 1992, featuring prayer halls for both men and women, a dining hall, classrooms, and a library. Shortly after, a second branch was established at 225 Maxey Rd to further serve the community. Over the last 30 years, Al-Noor has welcomed globally recognized scholars. In 2012, it launched the Al-Noor Institute of Islamic Sciences (AIIS), a formal Islamic seminary offering full-time and part-time Alim programs. Eight scholars (Ulema) have graduated so far.
