The inception of Long Beach Islamic Center (LBIC) was in 2003. Sheikh Tariq Mohammed, a Muslim Scholar and a community activist, led the effort to build a mosque for Long Beach community. The first location for LBIC is a building that was a car repair garage. The Muslim community in Long Beach worked together clean the garage and establish it as a mosque With God’s will, the permanent LBIC mosque was built and opened for worshipers in 2015 praise be to Allah. Although it is small in size, with 150 people max capacity, the mosque is providing Juma’a (Friday) sermons, Quran and Arabic Classes for children, youth and women, Muslim family nights and provide lunch and Iftar for Muslims and non-Muslims in the City of Long Beach.
