ICGA, part of the Greater Austin Muslim Relief Committee (GAMRC), provides financial and humanitarian support to community members in need, in line with the eight categories of Zakat as outlined in the Quran (Surah at-Tawbah, Ayah 60). These categories include assistance for vulnerable families, those in debt, wayfarers, captives, and more. Services provided by GAMRC: Rent, utility, food, and urgent medical or debt support Assistance for domestic violence victims, single mothers, widows, and orphans Distribution of food baskets during Ramadan and Eid Educational programs for refugee children Collection and distribution of Zakat ul Fitr and Qurbani meat Organizing activities for students during Eid and school breaks Tutoring for underserved students and providing Chrome books for online learning GAMRC coordinates with local charities and relies on financial donations to support these services.
